SMART Plant refers to the scaling up of energy-efficient solutions into an existing environment by renovating existing treatment plants in an Eco-innovative way with a focus on closing the value chain. The technologies used in the project decrease the CO2 footprint. In total, 9-pilot systems are to be installed and monitored for a period of over 2 years in at least 5 municipal WWTPs. Among them there are also 2 post treatment technologies. The systems are fully automated and aim to optimise the recovery of materials from waste, increase energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
